Beyond the therapy room
-
I’m a proud New Haven native
-
I love grounding myself with music and reading.
-
My favorite way to unwind is with a good book from the Octavia Grant, Tanisha Stewart, or Tiffany D. Jackson
-
I believe laughter is a form of healing, and I try to bring lightness into the therapy space when it’s needed.
-
I believe traveling is good for the soul
My Story
I’m Adrianne Smith, LPC, NCC, and the founder of Grounded Growth Wellness — but before all of that, I was just a girl growing up in New Haven, Connecticut.
Coming from a community where mental health wasn’t always talked about, I learned early on how much strength it takes to face life’s challenges without support — and how powerful it can be when someone finally listens, without judgment. That understanding shaped not just who I am, but why I do this work.
Today, I bring that same empathy and perspective into every session.
With a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Albertus Magnus College and a master’s in Counseling from the University of Bridgeport, I’m trained in trauma-informed care and certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through NBCC. I specialize in working with children, teens, and adults who are navigating trauma, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation — especially those who’ve carried the weight of their stories in silence for too long.
I use evidence-based tools like CBT, DBT, and TF-CBT to help clients not just survive, but truly grow from the ground up — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. My goal is always to help people feel better long-term, so they can live productive and meaningful lives.
Healing is possible — and it starts by being seen. I’m here to walk that journey with you.
